This is our absolute favourite place in Saundersfoot (and there are many lovely places to go). We’ve been coming here for years and always pop in to see if there’s a cancellation because it’s usually full and you need to book ahead. The fish platter to share is exceptional and, having travelled to many places around the world, this one is honestly hard to beat. Our 15-year-old daughter loves it here too, especially the lobster. You’re always welcomed with open arms, which makes it feel really special every time.
Overview
If you're in the mood for fresh seafood, head over to The Stone Crab, a gem nestled in the heart of Saundersfoot, located at The Harbour, Saundersfoot SA69 9HE, United Kingdom. The picturesque location by the harbor offers stunning views while you indulge in some of the finest seafood dishes the area has to offer.
The first thing that stands out about The Stone Crab is the ambiance. It’s not your typical stiff and formal restaurant; instead, it has a relaxed, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. The interior has been thoughtfully designed to match its coastal surroundings, with a modern yet rustic feel. Wooden accents and nautical touches fill the space, making it an ideal spot for both casual meals and special occasions.
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show - the food. As the name suggests, crab is a specialty here, but that's far from the only thing on the menu. The Stone Crab offers an impressive selection of dishes, from rich seafood platters to mouthwatering fish and chips, each dish crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. One of the crowd favorites is the crab linguine, a delightful dish combining tender pasta with fresh crab meat, creating the perfect harmony of flavors. The delicate sweetness of the crab pairs wonderfully with the zesty garlic and chili sauce, making it an unforgettable experience.
For those who love variety, the seafood platter is a must-try. It’s packed with a mix of freshly caught fish, crab, and other shellfish, served on a bed of ice to ensure it stays as fresh as possible. You’ll also find a selection of sauces and sides, including a tangy tartar sauce and crispy fries. Each bite feels like a celebration of the sea, offering a taste of the freshest seafood you could hope for.
But The Stone Crab doesn’t just rely on its seafood offerings to win over its customers; the menu also includes a selection of hearty meat dishes. Whether you're craving a juicy steak or a flavorful chicken dish, there’s something for everyone. The chicken tikka masala is a perfect blend of aromatic spices, offering just the right amount of heat without overpowering the dish. It’s served with fragrant rice and warm naan bread, making it a comforting and satisfying choice for those looking for something different.
What truly sets The Stone Crab apart, though, is the attention to detail. From the way each dish is presented to the thoughtful service, everything here is designed to ensure you have a fantastic dining experience. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always willing to offer recommendations or answer questions about the menu. Whether you’re a seafood enthusiast or someone who’s not too familiar with the sea, you’ll be treated like royalty.

Reviews
We’ve been visiting Saundersfoot for years but had never tried The Stone Crab — until this year, when we finally managed to get a table. We were really excited. The service was good overall, though one younger waitress came across as a bit grumpy and not very friendly. Thankfully, the other waitress — the owner’s daughter — was warm, welcoming, and funny, which quickly lifted the mood. The food was fantastic: full of flavour and beautifully presented. We had the lunchtime seafood platters, and every item was fresh and delicious. The price was reasonable given the quality of the food. Overall, it’s well worth a visit if you’re after fresh, flavour-packed seafood.
Visited for a special lunch, we had the fish sharer which was delicious fresh produce and very good value for money. Waitress was very friendly and lovely atmosphere. Couldn’t fault it.
We had a fantastic dinner at the Stone Crab on Friday night. Seafood heaven! We started with oysters, which were delicious, followed by the seafood sharing platter for our main - it was enormous- so generous! Mussels, red mullet, prawns, scallops and sea bream- with half a lobster and a huge portion of chips. Fish and shellfish were cooked perfectly. We had an Irish coffee and a Tia Maria coffee to finish (like dessert in a mug!). Staff were warm and welcoming and were so proud of the food! The Stone Crab is a real gem!
Can't recommend the sharing platter highly enough, that coupled with amazing service from Molly and Lily made for an exceptional experience. Jamie also needs recognition for a cracking chicken liver parfait on the specials board!
Dinner for 4. Mother and daughter shared the seafood platter (ÂŁ75), while husband and son-in-law had the Goan seafood curry (ÂŁ25 each). We also had calamari and paprika prawns starters: both were exceptionally good. Outstandingly good food, beautifully presented and thoroughly enjoyed. Plus a few Peroni and Moretti beers and two glasses of white wine for the ladies. The total bill was just under ÂŁ200, but in view of the quality and quantity of the food: ÂŁ50 each was great value. Will definitely come again....... time to start saving on my pocket money.
Book ahead of time! Luckily I checked and managed to book a table for whilst I was in Pembrokeshire - they were very accommodating as I was booking a lunch with little notice. But thank goodness they had some availability because the food was amazing. Take friends so you can order more and try more things - it was very tricky to pick what to have but I can’t wait to go back and try more. Lovely seafood and the chips and bread accompaniments were excellent too, plus lovely drink options. Felt like my holiday had really begun with this meal!
